Since 1985, Richard Smith has completed a multitude of construction projects in California with strong hands-on experience in virtually every aspect of entitlement, development and building. From storm drain infrastructure to the keys to the front door or from a custom estate house to a custom warehouse, Richard has successfully built them all and everything in between. He is currently active in custom spec home building, select high-end residential remodeling along with building commercial and industrial projects throughout Los Angeles County.

From 1996 to 1998, Richard Smith, CFO of All Trades, worked in alliance with Costa Land & Real Estate Services, being contracted and commissioned to oversee the development and construction of a once-in-a-lifetime residential development project known as the Jameson Legacies, in Sierra Madre, California, which included the construction of 8 new custom estate homes designed to recreate turn-of-the-century architecture with the absolute highest level of quality and craftsmanship possible sparing no expense in the process.

All Trades acted as General Contractor supervising more than 160 sub-contractors and tradesmen, and also completed the full restoration of the historic Jameson Estate House and Lockhart House. The rare conceptual project commissioned by the Jameson Trust earned recognition as some of the finest homes built in the state, transformed the overall values of all residential real estate in Sierra Madre and was the subject of many building conferences discussing the ultimate in building standards attainable at the time.

From 1984 to 1993, Owen Development Corporation, Richard served a lead supervisory position directly in charge of all development and construction activities that included Tracts, Flag Lot, Planned Unit Development and Custom Single Family Homes, a full-time field position that included management, supervision and operation of heavy equipment and materials.

During this time Richard honed his skills with tools, equipment and heavy machinery, actually handling these responsibilities himself. The company completed more than 275 new homes in the San Gabriel Valley and was well known as one the San Gabriel Valley’s premier builders at the time, an INC 500 Company.
